I dont understand why Facebook didnt seduce their users into - TopicsExpress

I dont understand why Facebook didnt seduce their users into switching to the standalone Messenger app, by adding features that only work there. Then if you get a few million people to switch because they like cool stuff, and they start using features that are only in the standalone app, that creates pressure for all users to upgrade. Its not hard to add features only in a standalone app, btw -- because the UI is much less crowded it can support more functionality. The same effect could be accomplished with happy users. Ultimately its good for business if generally users like you, it seems. ;-)
