I dont understand why people continue to spread and share post about all the negativity and shootings in chicago as if it is part of the solution. Especially when you arent from Chicago. Yall aint really concerned tho. How do I know? Cuz too many end their post with shit like Im glad I dont live there or that shit crazy and THEY need some help. Everybody wanna know whats up and whats going on in the city, as if you plan to do something about it if we did have the exact answer. Its like you see my house on fire, and instead of helping to put it out or even calling someone that can, you instead choose to record and put it on worldstar! The media already does a great job at making chicago out to be nothing more than violent. It has mastered the image of perpetuating our youth to be hopeless killers and Thots. I really dont think they need your help in spreading the word. I wonder what would happen if people shared and posted all the positive stuff our youth like Cap-Youth As Resources and Lyric Mentoring are doing? I wonder what would happen if grown ass men stopped liking pictures and giving attention to our young half naked sistas, Would they then put clothes on? I wonder if we promoted more conscious hip-hop, and less songs/videos about guns, Would it no longer be cool to have one? Youre rapping out youre struggle, I get it. But half of yall aint really built to tote guns or catch bodies. Your heart dont really breath that fast. You want something more, but you dont know how to get it, you dont know how to ask for it, you may not even know what it looks like, but I see you. I see the longing to live past 18 in your eyes. I hear you crying out for help in the midst of your rebellion, I feel your hands trying to break free from the chains of abuse, neglect, cycles, systems, disappointment, and low expectations. I see you... Hmm I wonder if we begin to teach our kids how to dream, set goals, find their passion, realize their greatness, show them possibilities outside their hood, invested time, effort, and resources into them, love them and accept them for who they are when they walk into church in search of something more, if we burst the school to prison pipeline, make incarceration instead a secondary alternative to restoring youth to the community when a crime is committed, and seeing each individual youth at their highest possibility no matter what believing they have something to offer the world...what then would the headline and post read? Im just venting though... #EMYRGE
