I dont understand why people think its better for religion to not - TopicsExpress

I dont understand why people think its better for religion to not be a public thing, or for people to share their religion. I dont know much about other religions, but as for Christianity, if you know the truth that Christianity teaches and believe and live by it, youre more likely (and depending on the particular flavor of Christianity, going to) to get to heaven. So a person sharing their faith is often doing so out of love for the other person. I understand there are many people who have other intentions or are weird or just plain rude about doing this, and I think theres a sort of art to evangelizing well, but I dont understand people who get angry about someone trying to literally save your soul, even if you dont believe in it. As a Catholic, Ive had plenty of other Christians try to convert me. And even if they say strange or rude things about the state of my soul, I dont get angry, because they generally are coming from a place of love. I dont try to actively convert anyone because I feel that I dont know enough to give them the correct answers about a lot of things. But I wont hide my faith, and I wont back down, even from my unpopular positions. But if you want to have a decent conversation or debate, and are interested in learning more, Im totally down for that. My (Baptist) boyfriend and I have epic conversations about religion, and weve both been to each others services. Basically my point is this: separation of Church and State is great. Separation of Church and Society, not so much.
