I dont usually highlight public sinning but tonight I feel the need to address this. So Im walking along Edgware Road and to my shock I witness a group of hijabis in a pub, I had to double, triple take because I couldnt believe what my eyes were witnessing. Now, Im fully aware that the punishment for a sin is the same be it if your a hijabi or not, but my point is this; when we wear the hijab, we are not only representing ourselves, but the entire Muslim ummah. If we’ve taken the first step in covering, then alhamdulillah, but let’s not stop there. We need to make sure we are wearing it properly for only then will it protect us, make us conscious of our actions, and establish our respect in society. If we don’t wear hijab properly then we would be giving those who are not educated in Islam and hijab the wrong image of how it should be worn. (Bear in mind for all those who follow in our wrong footsteps we will be held accountable for leading them astray). Ya akhwaat lets re-examine and rectify how and why we wear the hijab. Its not merely a piece of cloth covering the hair on your head, rather, your actions, speech, behaviour and dress code all play a part in observing the correct attire. Rant over.
