I dont usually post stuff like this ; & in any event, dont usually manage to get away from Court for this sort of work. This one I want to share not only because I fell in love with this dog - thats usual ; but also because I want to express my best appreciation for Arif Iqbal & Dinesh Monga - we did this together. Late evening at office today, randomly browsing through FB, I happened to see the 1st picture of this sweetie, in a post by Sakshi Sethi in the group, Dogs Day Out, that said : Abandoned n sick- An ailing german sheperd at Nanaksar Gurudwara Shankar Road next to Gangaram Hospital! If theres anything that really tears me up, it is abandoned pets - dumped children. Scrolled through the comments, saw that the wonderful Nadir had offered to take him in, saw that my dear friend, AjayDeep, was also in the loop. But Nadirs at Gurgaon, Ajay at Faridabad, & it had been a while; & in this bitter Delhi cold the poor doggy (who I thought was old) was still there - at Nanaksar Gurudwara :( So I thought it had to be me, I seemed closest. Dinesh is a lawyer like me - a colleague & a friend. We were working together for tomorrows court cases. I told him he absolutely had to come with me ; & even though hes not into all this, he accompanied me :) I was in touch with Ajay, who was racking his brains to see who else could pitch in too ; & he remembered suddenly, that Arif lives close by. We called Arif, who immediately got up and out and reached there before I did. & then met with a no such dog from everybody thereabouts ! When Dinesh & I reached, the 3 of us decided - we couldnt just let it be, wouldnt risk the dog being somewhere there, injured, abandoned, all alone. So we started looking for him in that huge complex ; & at the end of an hour, when we were almost giving up, we found him suddenly - in a hidden nook sort of thing near the gate - 2nd picture. He was terrified, wounded eye, bad skin issues, other wounds, maggots. & he is young, and he was very aggressive. So we started trying to get professional catchers ; but couldnt manage any. Which is when Arif & I decided to do it ourselves. & it took some doing - and Arif was absolutely super with the way he managed to loop him eventually. We then we managed to get him into my XUV ; & Dinesh drove young GSD & me (talking all the while to GSD) back to the High Court. From where my husband Mandeep took over ; & since the young chap needed immediate veterinary attention, we drove him straight to the SPCA Noida, & entrusted him into the very able hands of the Shelter Head, Vidhi Shukla. She sent me the last 3 pictures, of the sweetie at the SPCA :) Calmer now, and much more comfortable, attended to, well fed, etc. Tomorrow, Divya Puri takes over. Shell transport young fella to Nadirs, where the sweeties going to be. Arif - pleasure to meet you finally, & in the right sort of circumstances :) Dinesh, thank you :)
