I dont want to get into a discussion on the ethics of guns or gun - TopicsExpress

I dont want to get into a discussion on the ethics of guns or gun ownership, but I would like to ask a question regarding some arguments that I hear repeatedly on gun ownership. The people versus the government. Many pro gun arguments is about protecting against the government, and how because we civilians have access to guns keeps us from being slaves... Which REALLY confounds me, because in my head, Im kinda like Look, if the government wanted to take you out, no arsenal of yours is going to protect you from a drone strike on your 2 story. Like seriously. Or a tank. Personal protection? That makes sense to me on a basic level. But against the government??? Like do people really think their big rifle is gonna do shit against a full on assault from the American military??? I dont get it and it makes me furrow my brows whenever I hear it or see it. Again, lets avoid pro/anti gun discussions, I just want to understand this specific argument lol.
