I dont want to rage against the darkness. I want to turn up the light! - Angus Buchan Angus, whose life story was told in the movie Faith Like Potatoes, was here today. Hes a fiery Scotsman who lives in South Africa. He said he came here to give us the same message we have sent many missionaries to give them: the message of Jesus. Anyone that meets this man knows he loves Jesus with his whole heart. He talks about the Lord with such passion and unshakeable devotion that if I didnt already know Him, Id want to. As it is, I can see Angus has a more intimate, personal relationship with Jesus than I do, and I want that. I want what he has. He isnt afraid or ashamed to tell anyone about Jesus, his Lord, Savior and friend: the One who walked through every fire with him. His faith is not a Sunday morning appointment; it is every breath he takes. It isnt something he tones down to suit the company hes in, or puts away when its inconvenient. He isnt interested in blending in, or patting people on the head, telling them what they want to hear. He tells the truth. The whole truth. Everywhere he goes. He didnt leave his beloved family and come all this way to have a lukewarm chat. His faith is an action. A living thing with hands and feet. The Bible isnt a decoration for his table. Its something he eats, breathes, and lives. God said it, I believe it, and thats that! He said their country, and every country, watches America. We, a Christian nation, set the moral standard for the world. We greatly influence everyone and hes disturbed by what he sees. Its time we stop allowing sin to flourish in our homes and our lives. We need to live our faith and set a better example for our children. They dont do what we say, they do what they see us doing. We need to get filth off of our televisions and out of our lives. We need to stop pointing fingers at politicians and preachers and start pointing them at ourselves. We need to repent of our apathy and live as Gods people should. He said revival isnt about a bunch of Christians sitting under a tent somewhere. Its a love, a fire, that will not be quenched. Its something that begins in the hearts of ordinary people: my heart. And yours. He said the revival flame has been lit and could grow into an unstoppable blaze if we will stop trying to serve two masters and start serving the Lord with passionate hearts. Revival is upon us, if we want it badly enough. Im inspired by the passion and light I saw bursting out of this man, this farmer/preacher who traveled many miles to share his love of Christ with us. I want to fan that flame. May the whole earth be filled with the glory of God!
