I dont watch news, I dont like hearing about anyone dying. I dont have a fascination for the macabre. I like everything pleasurable. Plus my mind has enough darkness of its own. Some headlines come to find you anywhere though. If what I read about Ian Thorpe is true, it is very sad for any person to be going through such profound melancholy. However if it was a rock star or actor found in that state, people would be saying sucked in washed out junkie/wino. You deserve everything you get. Things like that must be reported with respect and sensitivity but just reinforcing the fake and double standards we have. Artists are not entitled to sadness or downward mental spirals. Of course not, theyre not human. They are even spoiled rotten little rich jerks who like to get high and who dont know what they want out of life. Depression is not a privy of average office workers and athletes. Just keep it in mind before judging a man by his wallet or job. While there are those who are self-indulgent, egotistical brats, there are plenty who fit in that category from all walks of life.
