I don’t do resolutions, I am more of a goal kind of guy. I have - TopicsExpress

I don’t do resolutions, I am more of a goal kind of guy. I have been setting goals since I was in my 20’s, because before then, I pretty much thought goals were a waste of time, go teen hood! Sometimes I reach my goals, sometimes I do not, but that is the beauty of goals, they can be reset and restarted. How did I do for 2014? Goal 1: Find investors for business – Well, yes and no. We were on the holy cusp of raising $1.5 million when something unthinkable occurred, I can tell you about it over coffee and tears some time. Goal 2: Read a biography and an autobiography about each of our Presidents. Yes and no, I made it through 10. Damn it, these things are long and long winded, a couple of tomes well over 1,500 pages. Leave it to our Presidents to pontificate over even the most mundane moments. I am not regretting it though, because if you want to learn about history, you have to go to the source. Goal 3: Begin learning a new language – Nope, never made it, not even a little. Goal 4: Complete Kahn Academy Math Challenges – Made it through 95%! Pretty good for a guy who failed math more times than I can count (get the pun!). The last 5% is going to be a rocky road, damn Calculus. Honestly, how the hell can you perform math that does not even contain a single number!!!! Goal 5: Mark off at least three more National Parks – Traci and I knocked this one right out of the ballpark. One good thing that came out of going on the money road show was I traveled all over the western side of our country, and I knocked another 15 national parks and national monuments off the list. I can tell you this country is beyond beautiful! Goal 6: Begin piano – Boom, yep, I started, and will continue. Great teacher and a whole lot of fun. Even my daughter is doing it now. Goal 7: Continue to improve on cooking and baking – Since I love doing both, I really worked hard to turn my cooking into a true passion, and I have. I tried so many new things, some successes and some failures, but all great lessons. Goal 8: Lose 50 pounds. Only lost 26, but I will continue to push to lose the rest. So, what about 2015, what will my goals be? Goal 1: Start my new career. I am both terrified and excited. For those that know me well, I have been an entrepreneur since I was in my 20’s, but after this year, and the disasters that reached 9.0 on the Richter Scale, it is time to look for new beginnings. I am not sure what it is going to be, I am not sure where it will be, but I know the ride is going to be entertaining. Goal 2: Continue my President quest and try to get another 10 to 12 completed this year. Goal 3: Begin learning a new language – Okay, failed last year, but will make an effort this year. Goal 4: 3 more National Parks – Going to be tough, but I will find a way! Goal 5: Learn how to do some home repair. Can I change an electrical outlet, nope. Build a fence, nope. Build or repair anything, nope. If you hear fire engines, you will know that at least I tried! Goal 6: Continue Piano and play a recital. I shall invite you, bring ear plugs. Goal 7: Cooking – Make a Beef Wellington, a Crown Roast and the perfect Crème Brulee. The journey shall be tasty. Goal 8: Get down to 175 lbs – Yep, I have 25 more to go, but will make it in 2015! I hope you find success in all of your goals in 2015 as well!
