I drew this last night on an impulse. I dont think its great, but I like it... I like it mainly because it felt good to spend so much time with this face thats been such a part of my cinematic experience as far back as I can remember, but a face belonging to a man I dont know at all. Oddly enough, it felt good because the fact that I dont know this man doesnt mean his lifes work didnt impact me, and not in a day to day sense, but in deeply profound scattered movie moments... moments stuffed into two hour windows nestled in some movie studios release schedule. And still these moments make up a substantial part of my youth, my existence, part of what makes me who I am today. Whether we scoff at it or not, some of us decide to make these celebrities a part of our life... and by doing so, we reserve the right, as strange as it may seem, to grieve in ways appropriate to our unique experience of these very real people... people we really dont know at all. It is a strange existence were living here... get creative & deal with it.
