I drove the Mercedes. I carried the Louis Vuitton and wore the Louboutins. I hung out with the right people, I had a very impressive career AND I was dating a superstar professional athlete. Looks so impressive, huh? As I started to get healthy (and very, very honest) a few years ago, Denise started calling all of those things my “Armor”. That was the stuff that I felt proved to everyone else that I was “worth it”, when down deep I didn’t feel worth it or that just me, just Christen was enough. I didn’t want those things, I needed those things to cover up the truth of how I felt inside. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with driving nice cars and carrying nice bags (I still have a small obsession with handbags), but when we have to use our accomplishments to prove to others that we’re worth it, it’s a pretty good clue that we don’t feel truly worth it inside. It took A LOT of work and A LOT of honesty to get here, but Today, I can stand here and say I’m worth it. Because God says I’m worth it. Today, I can say I’m enough. Just me, just Christen, no material things, accomplishments or impressive man on my arm. Just me. Because God says I am enough.
