I embarrass my children (early and often) -- we left our Christmas - TopicsExpress

I embarrass my children (early and often) -- we left our Christmas get together at my sisters in Kensington (Einstein class of 65) and had to stop at Ledos on University Blvd, with Ledos gift cards burning holes in our (my 14-YO twins) pockets. Not being back home in the Einstein area that often, I said, We -could- run into someone I know from Einstein. (The Ledos is across the street from WDON radio and also the old Anchor Inn site.) First, at the counter, Do you go to Einstein? The girls light up, yep, one graduated from there a year or two ago and the other one is in 11th grade there now. I was in the class of 1970! (Looks of shock on their faces because that is a LONG time ago, increasingly sounds like 1870!) Wow, for real!? A little while later a guy comes in, looks about my age, places his order, sits down to wait and I ask, Did you go to Einstein? No, he smiles, but my sons did. Then, waiting, a lady, also looks about my age, arrives and stands there waiting -- I thought I caught her looking at me a few times and I was sneaking peaks at her too, - as we leave, I say, Did you go to Einstein? She breaks out into a huge smile and says, No, do I look like someone you know? We both laughed. Everyone enjoyed it, no one was weird about it at all (other than me, maybe) and its possible, just possible, my kids eyes were opened a little bit, that being gregarious may not be the worst thing ever. But the question of the day definitely was, Did you go to Einstein!?
