I feel I have to defend my love for Black Friday. A few of my friends have posted pictures about being against it. One of my friends went as far as saying If your plan to shop on Thanksgiving, please unfriend me. So let me start with this. I do agree with the fact that every store should be closed on Thanksgiving. I think every retail store, gas station, motel, restaurant, hospital, police, Troopers or anywhere anyone has to work should be closed on each holiday. But we all know that is not realistic. People travel home or away for the holidays, so they need a place to stay, a place to get gas and places to eat. If you get hurt and need to go to the hospital, there will be people there to help you. Yes, I know, what does that have to do with Black Friday shopping? I am just trying to remind people there are a lot more motels, hotels, gas stations, restaurants and hospitals open on Thanksgiving than stores to shop at. And no one seems to be complaining about that. I Black Friday shop for a couple of reasons. The biggest one, of course is to get a great price on something maybe I couldnt afford at regular price. Another reason I do it, is it is a tradition that myself, now my daughter and friends and family do! And we have a great time together. If I thought that each and every shopper out there would stay home and boycott Black Friday to send a statement to retail, I would do that too! But, we all know there will be thousands of people out there shopping. You cant stop it. As far as what you all decide to do, your decision is absolutely fine with me. If you decide to spend the day with your family, travel and stay in a motel, shop till you drop, it is all fine with me. I for one, plan to get up bright and early, stuff a huge turkey, put that in the oven, and begin all the other fixings for dinner. I will wish Bill good luck if he decides to go hunting for the day. I will catch glimpses of the parade and the game on TV. And in between there, I will plan my shopping for that evening and the next day. My kids will be taken care of, hell my whole family will be taken care of because that is what I do. I will serve a beautiful dinner for everyone, laugh, remember other Thanksgiving dinners, talk about everything under the sun, and cherish each and every moment of it. And then, once dinner is done, I will head out to get some great deals. If you think because I go Black Friday shopping I am an unthankful person, I am sorry. And if you dont agree, or cant live with my decision, please unfriend me. But you will be missing out on a very thankful person you happen to know. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
