I feel, as if, we pretend to have understood one of d greatest geniuses of our times.. Bhupen Hazarika.. As we do have a kind of traditional Aesthetic limitation (i should have told it as genomic) so as to be able to understand d depth and multi- dimensional delicate nuances and connotations implicit in d compositions of Bhupenda.. D world once had judged d song Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan as d best creation of d century.. Imagine by John Lenon as one of d best three .. had d so called connoisseurs of music listened to our Saagor Songomot.!!!... We have been historically forced into d background as we speak Assamese.. So called enlightened people all around d world, r worshipping such a nonsensical earthly saint who could never ever have been able to compete with d wisdom and profundity of our Sankardeva.. So what i mean to say.. that Bhupen Hazarika sings in a language which is hardly .39% people o d world speak.. yet he is just a gem of a genius.. Saagor Songomot OUGHT TO be placed within d top ten songs of our times.. unfortunately D gems were selected by ..those, who never bothered to go beyond d Anglican boundary in realm of creative world.. sometimes they offer even Oscar to other third world countries to pamper only..which we most boast of triumphantly.. beggars have no choice .. What we need is some good translators ( who could make transliterations) who can justify d inborn talent of Bhupen da.. lo and see ..Instead, d so called English speaking intelligentsia r wasting their times in interviewing and hero worship ping d mediocre people who r like Bollywood stars..fading in a day or two.. We r fortunate that Bhupen Hazarika was born in Assam.. Yet he is not given his due due to the fact that we ourselves ( d Assamese r at a loss as how to portray his multidimensional personality.. cause we r Assamese.. we r poor at delving into d Intellectual depth( DOLAA EH DOLAA .. HEIAANA HEIANAA ) or associating ourselves with d SUBLIME Aesthetic perceptions( Bimurta mur Nishatee jen) too.. also we r poor in English .. and poor in mindset also..So till then Bhupen Hazarika remains an Assamese singer only.. And our Assamese intellectuals .. oh..R so much afraid of loosing their small regional feet and identity.. lest they be compared with d great genius.. so they keep mum..
