I feel bad for Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah actress). Its already hard enough doing a biopic let alone one about an icon but her portrayal of Aaliyah is seriously lacking and not for trying. Like many of us, I grew up on Aaliyah. Im a fan still to this day. When I styled my hair a certain way as a teen, I was told I favored her. I had peers that were friends of hers. She had a style, grace, humbleness, talent, beauty that spoke to an entire generation of not just young women but men too. We could relate to her. Her first biopic deserved better -- better actors, a better story line, better performances, better period.
