I feel frustrated. Just a few days ago I found out that a former colleague from a company I used to work at, underwent a major surgery. My frustration does not just stem from the fact that I actually approached this former colleague about taking an insurance and got turned down - BIG TIME. His reason? He says; I am healthy. Nothing bads going to happen. Huwag kang nega, Toffee. At that time I was recuperating from a gallstone surgery myself and felt, okay, not my loss. Ive more clients to attend to. But when I found out a couple of days ago what had happened, I felt frustrated and guilty with the fact that I couldve done more and insisted for that colleague to avail of an insurance. Right now hes unable to work due to the surgery, relying his expenses to his immediate family. And from what Ive learned, the HMO only covered the maximum limit and he had to make a string of debts to cover for the daily expenses and medicines not covered by his HMO amounting to more than Php250,000. I feel bad about myself. Had my former colleague taken an insurance, kahit pa hindi sa akin or sa company ko, the medical expenses couldve been covered. I shouldve just swallowed my pride and insisted for his sake. Friends, this business Im into is more than making the sale. An Insurance entails a COMMITMENT, by myself and my company, to provide for your needs WHEN YOU ACTUALLY need them. Having an insurance is a MUST for every working person who is responsible enough not to burden their already aging parents and equally struggling siblings with their health-problems. Having an insurance does not favor me in the long run - it is YOUR insurance after all, not mine. To my clients; thank you for letting me help you secure your future. To everyone; let me help you.
