I feel like a curmudgeon even asking this but its come to a point where some sort of action needs to take place. Perhaps some of you are having a similar issue. At about 3:30 on week days when the children are released from Mitchell we have always had issues with them being unsupervised and left to their own devices on the streets. Everyday they bounce from one house to another as they make their way down Nunan Street rummaging through peoples yards, trash, and waste bins finding various objects to smash or throw at houses and cars. Personally we make it a point to sit outside occasionally and talk with the kids and ask them not to throw things or take things from peoples yards but to no avail. I have a small rock garden in front of my house (HUGE MISTAKE) that has become their armory to gather fodder for throwing at houses and cars. Unfortunately our own cars have been dented and dinged by the rock throwing along with the passerbys. I really like the way this garden looks and it certainly wasnt cheap, however its become apparent that Im going to have to just pour concrete over the whole thing or revert it back to a muddy pit. Even then they also acquire bottles and construction debris along their route. Aside from removing the rocks from the garden, does anyone have any advise or solutions? There doesnt seem to be anything the police could do. The children in question are likely somewhere between 8 and 11 years old. Tracking down their parents would involve following them into a neighborhood where I dont think I would fare well unarmed. I know myself and a few other neighbors nearby have gotten into the habit of being outside around this time to sway them from going after our houses but that typically means they just go after a different one. What would you guys do, or what do you do? Anyone else have this issue?
