I feel really bad that Kim Henares keeps running after SMEs and small businessmen to extract the maximum tax from them....Hey, Kim, did you ever realize that if you run after the big businessmen, instead of the small ones, you will actually tax 80 percent of Philippine GDP? Because that is what these big businessmen have as share of the GDP? And since GDP is based on value added, you will easily improve your value added tax collection and income tax collection? Yet, how much does the government give these businessmen as tax incentives? Easily P200 billion a year—money they don’t need and money the SMEs badly need. The SMEs employ people. The big businessmen employ computers. That is why many men and women of the past and this century, many of them with few, if any qualifications, have tried the tried and tested to riches – join the government, get elected, and be corrupt.
