I feel sad when a High School teacher is given some 30,000/= for a monthly salary This amount of money can not pay for a 2-bedroomed house in the average estates here in Nairobi - yet it is supposed to sustain a University Graduate with his family for the whole month. It is basically not right. That said, it is more sad that the only negotiators that the KNUT bequeathed the responsibility of championing their social-economic grievances and welfare seem to have lost it this time. Wilson Sossion has veered-off the mark by a kilometer. This erstwhile best intermediator that i so much respected have now been overtaken by extreme haughtiness, disdainfulness, lordliness and pathetic pomposity. Today, his usefulness to the teachers is long beyond the sell-by-date. Instead of Sossion reading the New Constitution so that he may know the inclusion and the new role of the SRC in all future salary negotiations, he has opted to follow the century-old methodologies that Ambrose Odongo and Francis Nganga employed during their days at the KNUT. Sossion has resulted to cheating the teachers for his selfish financial expediency - it is even rumored that he is to seek for a political seat in 2017, hence the populist and senseless theatrics. How do you present the grievances of your Union members to their employer if you can not honor a mere summon? Teachers have lost it this time................................... .........................................................
