I feel that the Theatre department is the only place on campus that teaches you about yourself. I nearly got a BA in Psychology at UAF. When I graduated I was 5 classes short of that Psychology, and nearly stayed to get that degree as well, but my passion for psychology came from my desire to understand myself. It only ever gave me more questions. Theatre did not give me understanding either, but it gave me the courage to at least be me instead hiding in the crowds of the world. I decided I was content with that and graduated. I know there are more stories of UAF giving a student what they needed instead of what they thought they wanted. That will end if the department is closed.
