“I feel that the so called lean cabinet of Mutharika does not represent Malawi rather a certain political faction and tribe. The cabinet must have comprised half members from the Democratic Progressive party and the other half shared to Malawi Congress party as the party in majority in opposition benches where the leader of opposition comes from as well as other political parties excluding UDF which has its president Austin Atupele Muluzi in it,” explained Kabwila. However, a 42 member’s cabinet being proposed by Kabwila would cost Malawians who pay tax a whooping 70,440,000.00 (70.4 Million) Kwacha monthly in salaries and fuel allowances, 845,280,000.00 (845.2 Million) kwacha annually and 4,226,400,000.00 (4.2 Billion) Kwacha in 5 years time on fuel allowances and salaries alone, a staggering 2,102,400,000.00 (2.1 Billion) Kwacha higher than what Mutharika’s 20 members cabinet will spend in 5 years on the same.
