I figured we would play with some scenarios. So with that I present you some pictures You are dispatched to a occupied multi family dwelling fire in downtown section of your district on a Wednesday afternoon around 1400 (2pm) Upon arrival you find these Your crew size is a driver a officer and a back step. Your engineer is 65 and out of shape, officer is a off duty career guy from a busy inner city department and your back step is a 38 year old 3rd shift worker who has 2 months on the job and doesnt know jack squat and smokes like a train and is way out of shape. Your hydrants are out of service because the treads are rusted off and the city hasnt fixed them yet. Your 2nd closest hydrant only flows at a tinkle because the water district has gated the water valves at the hydrants down so low so that when you open a hydrant it wont effect the static pressure in the line due to the small size and age of the main. Your 2nd due is also volunteer and 10 minutes (driving time away) And your 3rd due is 15 to 20 away (driving time) they have an ambulance crew only and need to wait for volunteers to fill out a crew. That being said what do you do???
