I finally got around to watching All Is By My Side last night. I have been excited to see this and I thought it was a letdown. Andre Benjamin did a good job overall as Jimi, but the movie was dull and not very interesting. Also some key parts werent very accurate from what Im hearing. The filmmakers couldnt get the rights from the Hendrix estate to use original material, so they had to settle for covers. I see what they were trying to do with the film, just dont think they did it well. They were showing how people around Hendrix influenced Jimi and his career and what drove him. It had the potential to be very good but was disappointing in my opinion. Apparently another movie about Jimi is supposed to come out (not exactly sure when) with Anthony Mackie as Jimi, with a bigger budget and rights to some original stuff. Mackie is a very good actor. Should be interesting.
