I finally got to see Maleficent with Sabrina...Not what I expected. There was a lot wrong with the film but I enjoyed the revisionist aspect that placed the film into more of a fantasy epic. Something more in tune with the original fairy tale material it was based on. However it was extremely vague in its intention and Maleficent, being my favorite Disney villain of all of them was crystallized down into something more familiar with a witch from Wizard of Oz and an evil Mary Poppins. The story also turned the general concept of good and evil upside down. Its like listening to a story about two people fighting each other that hate one another. You hear the worst of each from the other. In one hand Maleficent is evil on the other hand Humans are disgustingly evil. Felt a lot like the Human kings from Lord of the Rings. It was entertaining but I did fall asleep half way through and had to watch it again, but then again I was exhausted when I started to watch it. It is definitely not for kids! Too much violence and grim bloodless slaughter, but slaughter none-the-less.
