I finally got to see the Natural Born Killers film (ITV4) last - TopicsExpress

I finally got to see the Natural Born Killers film (ITV4) last night, I dont know why its taken me so long to see it. An interesting, and different, film. The end credit song Leonard Cohens The Future (1992) seemed to me to be a bit too much like a poor mans version/rip off of Chris Reas The Road To Hell (1989). Heres Chriss excellent song: youtu.be/1EBw_da7BZk Heres Leonards song: youtu.be/D97OxHZzBeQ Theres a fine line between being influenced by and ripping off songs, and in my opinion this line was crossed in this case. A more recent example of crossing of this line is probably with Sam Smiths Stay With Me ( youtu.be/pB-5XG-DbAA ) and Tom Pettys/Jeff Lynnes I Wont Back Down ( youtu.be/nvlTJrNJ5lA from 1989 too, a good year for songs!). Yes Ill be the first to admit that some of my songs are influenced by other songs (songs mainly from the 80s, and 70s, too) but I try to go out of my way to remove the obvious similarities to make them different. :) The very first song I wrote, This Tour ( youtu.be/u53_5PnPElY ) , actually came about when I was playing Peter Griffins Family Guy Brokeback mountain cowboy song!
