I finally realized this a few years back. I keep a clean house, but I also keep a lived in house. My house is the one where everyone wants to come and hang out because they feel comfortable. All of our family, my friends, and the kids friends make themselves at home and I have come to appreciate that all of that is a lot more important than an immaculate house. People like to come visit me, not my house! Down the road, when I am gone, I dont want people to say, She really was a good housekeeper They will say, We loved going to her house because we always felt at home, no matter who we were or what color we are.... So the next time you come to my house and the kitchen floor looks like it needs to be swept, just overlook it. Its just from all our friends that came to see us the day before....
