I find each Ramadan to have a particular theme for me. Each Ramadan I depart with this theme in my heart. This Ramadan it has been very clear that the theme is unity. Unity. With all the chaos surrounding us and our ummah, unity has never before been more important. Unity with the Quran, unity with each other. Unity. In a time when we have Sunnis, Shias, Salafis, Sufis and God knows what else, it has become increasingly difficult to establish unity. Each respective group is constantly fighting the other, most times to their deaths. Unity. We have been pitted against each other for years now. Shedding blood. Unnecessary blood. And its time to unite and end this madness. Unity. While Syria bleeds, Palestine bleeds, Burma bleeds, Kashmir bleeds, Afghanistan bleeds, Iraq bleeds, what are we doing to stop these atrocities? We are a population in the billions but we cant stop the massacres occurring in front of our eyes. Unity. Its time we refocus. We repent. We get rid of the things that break our unity. Get rid of the egos. Get rid of the haram. Get rid of the love for this dunya. Get rid of anything that is displeasing to the Almighty. Unite with the Quran. Love one another. Have mercy on one another. Unite.
