I find it amazing that Wes Anderson has managed to create a successful career out of his ability to film one thing and one thing only. He has made a living out of quirky. There has to be a formula he follows, each character has three quirks, major characters are allowed between five and seven quirks. He uses the fixed handheld shot all the time which is something I just made up to describe how Wes Anderson films his movies. I think if you chopped his top (cut off the top of his head) and looked in there you might see two tri-colored teddy bear hamsters knitting socks in an Icelandic pattern with a small red transistor radio that only played Blind Uncle Gaspard. They are sitting on doll house furniture in 1/4 inch scale which is actually adorable because it is smaller than it should be? And they have a full afternoon tea service in front of them. Including cucumber sandwiches. They are sitting in an empty room that looks exactly like Vermeers The Milkmaid, including the blue table cloth. And it would probably be nice if Angelica Houston was standing in the corner wearing the Milk Maid costume and pouring luke warm buttermilk out of her pitcher into a dog bowl that turns out is Terry Gilliams ear. Or something like that. Moonrise Kingdom is cute though. Oh, and there is a kitten. Which is sweet. I am not done watching it yet.
