I find it crushingly sad that we (the majority from the safety of our homes in the US / Europe etc) seem to have basically zero ability to thoughtfully discuss the situation in Gaza. Its distressing to me that if I were to express the slightest sympathy for either Israeli or Palestinians civilians, or offer critique of either the IDF or Hamas, I would immediately be beset by a barrage of accusations of my failure to understand, etc etc by my various friends on either side. Is it not obvious that these stances are precisely why these struggles are so eternal?
