I find myself awake next to my wife again tonight. We are in - TopicsExpress

I find myself awake next to my wife again tonight. We are in the city (ny) for a couple of weeks as I meet with my staff here to really begin to chart our new course as people and a company. When I lived here a few years ago, we lived 40+ stories above the city. You could still hear the car horns but they were quieter and more like the sound of flock of iron geese high above the streets. There were times that our glass walls allowed us to see how high up we really were in a way totally cloaked in magic and wonder. A few times half way up the window the clouds began. A clear line of the heavens and our world beneath. The kids would jump up and try to touch the sky as the bottom layer of cloud swirled and curled just about their little hands and sticky faces, They were young and no longer remember our house in the clouds as they named it one thanksgiving day. That morning, we stood in the rain for the macys day parade only to go home and look out the windows. High up above the then God washed streets fell perfect snowflakes. Down below drizzle and gray. Here looking out, gray became a black and white a winter scene right out of the movie Holiday inn. Tomorrow we are expecting snow. 1-4 inches in the city. I am hoping for more. With five or six the streets will be closed and I could take my friend, lover and wife by the hand and walk right down the center of Broadway. I have done it once before. The kids dont remember that either. But tonight, I will silently wait to see what the morrow brings as we slip into a new day. I will listen to my wife softly breath and smile at the sounds of horns and sirens which now seem to be right on top of us. Tonight I find myself in someways alone and awake while she sleeps by my side. Soon I will take her glasses off, fold them on her night stand, kiss her goodnight and if I am careful enough she will merely sigh and continue dream of walking hand in hand in the glow of the lights on Broadway. From the city that never sleeps ... Goodnight America.
