I find myself listening to depressing music more often than not. I like it to be artfully crafted, sincere, and potent more than depressing, but there is just something about that state that lets those properties grow. People have been trying to figure that out for as long as there have been people. David Gray is a songwriter and musician that Ive come to trust and respect enough to immediately buy whatever he puts out. I did this with his most recent album Mutineers in June and was greeted with an opening song that I just didnt get. It had all of those properties, yet I found myself thinking it was too hopeful. It seems awfully silly, and the album has since grown on me, but when I turn it on I cant help but be reminded of those artistic blinders I seem to be wearing. youtu.be/rqs9sqAJimo
