I finished Season 3 and started season 4 tonight. People have told me to continue writing as I am doing this rewatch so I figured I should write about these episodes that ended the season and started another. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the Space Battle in Shadow Dancing. It kind of felt like the space battle in Die is Cast (Star Trek DS9) in that a lot of it happened inside and the writers were trying to save whatever money they had left. I still think Severed Dreams is the best battle sequence this series ever did. Loved the stuff with Franklin though and seeing Anna Shariden at the end is still a holy shit ending. As Ive been doing this rewatch, Ive been wondering which season finale/premiere is my favorite. Now before I joined this group (Thanks for the add by the way, Im loving talking about Babylon 5 with everyone here) I had seen Season 1 and 2 and I was struck by how awesome Chrysalis was. Everything was going to hell, Delenn was going into a Coccoon, Sinclair was snuggling with Cathrine wondering what else hell is having in store, and Garabaldi was shot in the back and the president has been assassinated. Thats a hell of a cliffhanger and a great way to wrap up Season 1. While I love ZaHaDum as well, I think I like Chrysalis more but they are really really close. I mean maybe it comes down to more hellish stuff happening in Chrysalis but nuking ZaHaDum and falling into the Abyss and Garabaldi disappearing is a hell of a cliffhanger too. The Hour of the Wolf really is one of the more quiet premieres. It is basically setting things into place and this is one of the first series where the Captain doesnt come back just yet. I do remember this season being where I loved what was happening on Centuri Prime with Cartagia, and we are starting to see the new Kosh for what he truely is, not anything like the old Kosh. Really looking forward to digging deeper into Season 4. Season 3 is my favorite season, but Season 4 is really really close and I think more stuff happens in Season 4. Still, the deeper into the series I get on this rewatch the more excited I get to just keep going. This really was a series ahead of its time and one of the best written and acted series ever. I miss shows like this, to be honest. Maybe Im just not looking hard enough at the current TV landscape to get shows like this.
