I finished the applique just now. After chatting with the lady who will be doing the quilting, she said for me not to embroider the eyes and legs on yet, that it should wait till after the quilt is quilted. So the birds dont look right, but they will later. Here is a picture of the whole thing and a close up of one of the birds and some leaves. I did a bit of an experiment here. I like to run the things I make for other people through a wash cycle before giving it to them, whether it be hand wash or machine wash just to make sure everything will go through the process nicely and if not, I can make repairs right then. Also, a bit of PSA for those of you on the fence about fuseable applique: I wanted to see how this fuseable applique would run through a wash. Would it fray? Or would it come out looking nice? Well, here is my answer. What you are seeing in these pictures is after a machine wash and dry and a good ironing. Im very pleased with the results. And after it gets quilted, it wont need an ironing. What do yall think? The applique strip of this baby quilt top has passed my very ocd inspection and now I can move on with the rest of it.
