I finished the rewrite. It was a hard one. In the last chapter I started with a rather long scene with 2 minor characters facing the bad guy. Then I went to the prom where the major characters were and ended the book there. Lauren, my Pocket editor, wanted me to open the chapter with the main people at the prom. Tell about the clothes, the decorations, have my hero and heroine talk. Then they receive a text from the bad guy and go running. Lauren wanted me to put the long scene with the minor characters there in the middle of the chapter, then have them all go back to the prom for the ending. It sounded like a cut and paste job but it wasn’t. I had to write about 10 new pages and insert them, paragraph by paragraph, into the chapter. What wasn’t new had to be rewritten to smooth it out, plus I had to throw out a lot. It didn’t help that MS Word made me crazy. It decided to center everything I wrote and refused to set back for the beginning of a paragraph. Plus, it would break in the middle of the page. I’d be at the top of a page, typing away, and it would decide to go to another page. I’d fix it, but it would make a break somewhere else. Things I couldn’t fix, I put a comment bubble by and explained. How anyone works with this software is beyond me! I have another rewrite coming up and I certainly hope it isn’t as difficult as this one was! Eventually, I will stop complaining so much and get onto the glorious time of actually creating. Blank paper! Phone off! Just drifting off into another world. What lovely thoughts. What have you been reading lately? Jude
