I first met Stuart when I was an undergrad at UCF in my Junior year. Dr Chris Parkinson introduced me when he learned about my passion for bees. I started working in the bug closet and stayed around for a year learning all sorts of valuable skills that I would later use for my Masters thesis research. Stuart was tough on me and was always pushing me to aim higher and take one step farther. He guided me to pursue a thesis and urged me to stick with my passion for bees despite offers to explore herpetology, carbon, forestry, and urban ecology research. It has taken his death to really put it all into perspective for me. I will be forever grateful to him for his tough love and encouragement. Id never be where I am without his guidance and support.
