I forgave myself today... nothing really specific, but I knew it - TopicsExpress

I forgave myself today... nothing really specific, but I knew it was necessary. It was not easy. We are our biggest critic, and not sure why. Without self-awareness, self-respect, self-esteem, self-regard, self-confidence and faith in oneself, we can never give more to others. It was this sinking feeling that forgiving myself was harder than forgiving others, and I felt stuck and confused. .. I began to unravel my thoughts that appeared to protect my right to wallow in guilt, and believe me, noone is going to take that right away from me, or you... lol. No matter what decisions we make in life we have to find Peace, and that peace begins with self-forgiveness for me, no matter how bad it is. That is where the suffering reverses and the healing begins... at least it always has for me. Part of all my healing, physically, mentally and spiritually begins with writing about it - a journal is a wonderful tool, and it costs nothing. Writing is a learned skill, not innate, which is why many of us struggle to sit down and do it. Spelling doesnt matter :) Although some friends have questioned my purpose of writing on this social platform, and I did at first, but now it brings me great relief to relive some of these incredible principles I try to bring to awareness for myself and hopefully a few others. For the last decade or so I had to continously push and remind myself of these simple, yet perceived to be impossible techniques that centered around forgiveness for me and others. Not instinctual at all... which makes it easy to not do. For some reason we feel compelled to be miserable by punishing ourselves and not feeling worthy or capable of living great, healthy lives. This is wrong... we tend to sabotage relationships, jobs, and any form of happiness because we think we do not deserve it. Well, you do! If you continue to be miserable and beat yourself up, then those around you that love you will get beat up as well... forgiveness relieves that responsibility. Forgiveness does not mean you forget, it means you deserve to move on... you may need to forgive yourself everyday, but thats OK!
