I found this article interesting (and sums up my exact opinion of the show in the last line.) Understanding Sherman’s series requires a passing familiarity with one or more of at least the following topics: The history of photography; classical Hollywood cinema of the 30s, 40s, and 50s; feminist theory in general; and feminist film theory in particular.
