I found this article very interesting. I feel it really shows how much social media has become a part of American society. It seems to be that politics up until now was really the only facet of American society that was still sticking to traditional media. Presidential debates are always televised, but it is hard to find them online. Candidates still generally choose to focus their attention on radio, television, and in-person appearances during their campaigns and spend little time on social media. No other president has ever focused so much attention on putting political matters out onto social media. I think it is wonderful that we are moving in this direction. There is an obvious generation gap when it comes to politics, with those in the older generation choosing to follow politics through newspapers and television broadcasts and poll place voting. Up until now, younger people who get their news through social media and the internet and prefer to do things online where not given as much access and opportunities to be involved as those using traditional media. I think in order to bridge this generation gap and get young people more involved in politics and government, it is important to reach them through social media and other internet platforms. nytimes/2015/01/20/us/politics/doing-more-than-putting-an-annual-address-into-140-characters.html?_r=0
