I found this on Dads computer today: There is much concern over what happens when we pass. I tend to think it’s far more important what happens while we’re still here. If you’re concerned about living on, you needn’t be. The simple fact that you existed influenced others so you live on through them. Life is energy and energy is transferred through contact. If you were full of positive energy you will have a positive effect and if you were full of negative energy, you will have a negative effect. When you pass, your energy doesn’t cease, it continues on in those who you had contact with. Regardless of your faith, I think you can agree. Two of the most influential people in my life passed away at different times several years back and rarely a day goes by that I’m not somehow reminded of what they gave me in life. Blood is a term often used in describing familial connection and there is no doubt that genetically there is something of their blood in me. These people gave me more than their genes though, their personality influenced my personality. I think that all people are the reflection of their life experience and exposure. Obviously I spent a good deal of my growing years with these people so it’s safe to assume that much of their personalities live on in me. When someone close passes away we are naturally upset because of our loss of an energy source. Some energy sources are more positively influential and accordingly more valued than others. I’m not even sure where I’m going with this other than if you want to live on after passing, you need only have a positive effect on those who you make contact with. There’s nothing all that complicated about it. Religions go to great length to essentially communicate this rather simple truth. I love who these people were and this enables me to love how they affected me. I had someone once tell me that a problem I had was that I couldn’t get over the loss of someone. I don’t need to get over anything. I worry more about people who can tuck their emotions under their hat and say they are over things like this. To take positive energy and turn it to nothing is not a trait that should be fostered. Why kill the energy?
