I found this on a Wikipedia article about Linguistic Purism in Icelandic. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_purism_in_Icelandic So, this is the flag of a (mostly minor) movement in Iceland which aims (as far as I can ascertain) to remove foreign loanwords from Icelandic and return to an entirely native lexicon. Linguistics aside, the flag is a very interesting one. It is very similar to the Icelandic flag, but the cross has been turned 90 degrees and the head of the cross stays excluded. It is supposed to be a stylised Thors Hammer. This interested me, as I wondered whether any other national flags have been modified in similar ways to represent movements of a linguistic or political nature. Does anyone know of any?
