I gave it my best, but.. Regarding my appeal of Region Of Durham - TopicsExpress

I gave it my best, but.. Regarding my appeal of Region Of Durham Official Plan Amendment 128 (ROPA 128) to the Ontario Municipal Board, PL101409; the following is my submission to the OMB and the juggernaut of parties I have been up against, that is, the Region, City of Oshawa and developer stakeholders who have been rushing to see more land north of the future 407 redesignated for urban sprawl: Despite the fact that I was frozen out of the October 25, 2012 ROPA 128 Minutes of Settlement, and the Region, an opposing party, scoped my appeal against my objection to the point where it was a thinly veiled dismissal of my appeal, I continued to make every effort to protect my interests in this process, with the expectation that I would have a full and fair hearing of my issues. Since the Province has failed to defend its prime farmland conservation legislation with respect to the Columbus area, however, and the Board decision issued July 4, 2013 severely restricts the interpretation of the manner in which my appeal was scoped and will not permit me the opportunity to protect the 1800 acres of Class 1 agricultural lands surrounding and forming part of the Columbus community, I am forced to authorize my lawyer, John Sewell, to inform the Board and the parties to PL101409 that I abandon my appeal. Rosemary McConkey, Columbus, Ontario Date: July 19, 2013.
