I generally like modern times; antibiotics, cell phones, sliced bread, li’ dat, but I must confess I’m put off by the endless hand-wringing, chest-thumping, self-important ravings of the delicate little ouch-cubes which we’ve all become… on all sides of every issue. Every little thing has to be analyzed, argued, taken personally and embraced or rejected depending on how it synchs with our fragile little egos. The guy started a nice little fb group for people from Ann Arbor, or heavily influenced from their time in A2, or just love the place. You’ve got to have something resembling standards, however, and this group’s standards are pretty low, (they let *me* in, after all!). All that means is that they don’t want ads or really annoying posts. That’s a far cry from the velvet rope at 54. I feel like I’m witnessing the breakup fight of some boy band. There are big problems in this world, and we’re arguing over whether somebody is “town” enough to be in the group. Speaking of bigger problems, there’s a lava flow bearing down on another town that I love, Pahoa, Hawaii, so quit your whining, on both sides, and be glad you don’t have a ten foot wall of hot lava blocking Washtenaw Ave.
