I get so cross with GM for the sake of GM. Putting genes from one - TopicsExpress

I get so cross with GM for the sake of GM. Putting genes from one species to another is a very silly thing to do. Particularly when released into the environment en masse. There is no guarantee that the resistance genes will remain within that single crop. The GM crop will contaminate other crops. It is possible for the roundup resistance to jump to other species making worse, or even creating, the problem the GMO was designed to solve. Have transposons been used to insert the resistance gene? Are they still present? What new mutations will they cause?
