I give 3.5/5 Irandam Ulagam, a different film that is ahead of its time. A bold and risky move from Selvaragavan. Hats off to him. This film is not for hardcore masala mediocre audiences. The film was really good with one major and few minor flaws. I was amazed to see “Multiverse Concept” in Tamil industry so soon. Yes, Most of the audiences doesn’t know what is a multiverse concept, unless if they are a fan of DC Comics or Hollywood films. It’s really great to see a Hollywood type film. Arya did a OK acting, not impressed with his acting, but loved Anushka’s acting. She did great in this film. BGM was above average. The story was good. He proved that he has a great thinking mind. But failed to realize that the audiences are not alike. One of the most accurate sci-fi film seen in Tamil. Only who knew the concepts and patience can enjoy the film, I enjoyed and was bored sometimes. Only minus, length. What went wrong in this film? 1. It was lengthy, which makes us to think that the film was boring and slow, but it isn’t. For this type of film it would be great if the total length was 100-120 mins. 160 mins phew (major flaw) 2. The songs ain’t that good, which adds boring sensation. 3. The CGI clips are below average, with 60 crores of budget, it could be better. Scientific accuracy: 1. In the beginning, they showed about a theory proposed by Dr.Einstein. But they should have given credits to Dr. Stephen Hawking (Theory of Quantum Mechanics) and Werner Heisenberg (the actual theorist) who were actually the ones who gave the concept of Parallel Universe/ Multiple Universe (string theory/m-theory). 2. The dialog delivered by his father in the interval is TRUE. According to Einstein, we can bend the time (leading to Time travel like in the movie “Time machine”), space (leading to warp drive AKA hyperspeed or lightspeed like in the movie “Star Trek”) and dimension (leading to travel between multiverse as shown in this film and a Hollywood film “Jet li’s The One”). But we still don’t know how to bend it. 3. There is only a small flaw, if the people living there looking identical then the environment must be same as here. There won’t be dragons flying or abnormal lions. Both the environment will be same, like shown in the film Jet li’s the One and a fantastic drama “Another Earth” which are the correct depictions of Parallel universe concept. 4. If the environment is different, then the people’s physiology, who lives in that planet, will be different, like in the movie “The Avatar”. Because they are adapted to their environment. So this is the only scientific flaw that I could find. 5. And all the foreign actors talks in Tamil. Yes, What is m-theory? An exact replica of earth in another dimension. There will me a copy of me and you, in alternate earth but may have different roles. For example – a film actor here exists in the alternate earth, but he may be a professor speaking different language.
