I got a shout out in this piece in The Newer Yorker I thought it was true love…I was wrong!!! I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who had a revolutionary spirit like that of Haydee Santamaria. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who was politically outspoken like Angela Davis. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who wrote poetry like Penny Arcade. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who loved films as much as Pauline Kael did. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl with beauty that of Maria Felix. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who based her social and political ideas from the writings of Noam Chomsky. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who was a TRUE feminist like Betty Friedan. I thought I had fallen in love with more then my equal. I thought I had fallen in love with a girl who challenged me in every way. Who took me places, who open things up for me. I thought I had fallen in love with the female-vision of Holden Caulfield but….. All I got was a Semi-smart Paris Hilton!..
