I got home last night and Carleigh started hysterically crying complaining with her neck hurting. So I looked and she had a large swollen knot the size of a golf ball the left side of her neck its was like it came out of nowhere. I took her up to Raleigh General just to be safe and get it checked out bc I had no idea what was causing it or when it appeared bc last night was the first time Carleigh had complained with it. I got her up there signed her in and the immendiatly ran test. They said she was a tuff kid bc she had no other signs like a fever runny nose sickness or anything just the large knot in her neck. The test came back and they said she had swollen lymph glands and it commonly happens with strep, and viral infections, dental problems, insect bites, and injuries about the face, scalp or neck. Which is weird bc as far as we know Carleigh as had none of the above. And the swelling and firmness typically can last up to several weeks after the infection or injury is healed. They put her on an antibotic and said if I didnt see any improvement in a few days bring her back. My poor babygirl. She is one tuff cookie and is so strong. I envy her so much and I am so proud how good she did last night. Hopefully she will feel better soon and that big ole knot will go away soon.
