I got into a discussion with someone recently about great songs, the guy asked me if I could have written any song what would it be. I replied that since there were so many I couldnt possibly give him a definitive one just off the top of my head but if I went with the first one that popped into my head at that moment Id have to say How Deep is Your Love by Bee Gees. He looked at me incredulously. THE BEE GEES?! REALLY?! Thats the song you wish youd written? Out of all of the songs ever?! I said Yeah man, its amazing. Its a beautiful, well crafted, deeply emotional song. Its easily as good as any other song every written. He still couldnt grasp it. It was then that I was back to my realization that some people just dont get it. They dont get it and they never will. I dont put songs into some sort of artistic hierarchy. If I love it, I love it and that is good enough for me. I have zero guilty pleasures, when I like something I champion that shit loud and proud. So here it is, the song I wish Id written. Enjoy.
