I got some good positive reinforcement of my own from viewing this. See 17:22 for the crux of the message. That awful, abusive, psuedo-Dog Whisperer is wrong; this film shows the original Dog Whisperer Paul Owens. No one needs to dominate or punish his or her dog. The scientifically proven, and compassionate way, is to set up substitutes for unwanted behavior (chase the ball, not the broomstick), dont reward the unwanted behavior but dont punish it, and reward desired behavior in small increments so the dog can put together and learn what you want. Dogs want to please and are wired to respond to their owners desires and needs. That alpha dog shit is a myth, based on erroneous research.
