I got suspension squeaking noises, but it is not the usual places - TopicsExpress

I got suspension squeaking noises, but it is not the usual places that you are thinking. Not the compression rod bushings. Not the lower control arm bushings. It is coming from the upper strut mount. Yes, I know this is rare because EVERYONE seems to have issues with their bushings, but I finally narrowed it down today. I spray the upper mount with some silicone lubricant and it gets rid of the noise every time. This whole time I assumed it was my control arm bushings and I kept wondering why lubricating the bushings had no affect on the noise. Now the only video I have seen on Youtube related to my issue is for an Acura TL (https://youtube/watch?v=scFbb43fwqk). Skip to the 14:00 mark. Now on to the questions... Is this noise a sign that I need new struts? Do you think tightening the top strut nut will get rid of the noise (it is difficult to do with standard tools so I might need an impact gun)? Will lubricating the upper strut mounts have any negative consequences?
