I got to thinking about my mom and her heritage as I was sitting here and thought about sharing a few pics from where she was raised. She was born in the Sugar Grove Community of Watauga County near Valle Crucis, North Carolina. She went to school at the now "Historic COVE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL" in Sugar Grove and played on the girls basketball team when the school was built in 1940....it only had 11 grades then. She walked to the MAST GENERAL STORE to buy goods with money she made from selling eggs. A different time and place but one I will always cherish.....enjoy!
